Report

This game will now conclude my third season running Shirebrook Rangers Mens Team and this was by far the best and committed display by a football team Ive had the pleasure to manage. The commitment, workrate, tackling, movement, support play, teamwork and actual standard of football was awesome tonight.Hopflower can try an give the excuse that the League was already theirs but they still battled and fought for 90mins but were just outplayed on the night.
Ryan opened our account when a ball put over the top of their skipper saw Ryan run onto and smash into the back of the net.The second goal was exactly the same but this time Ryan just gently rolled the ball  into the corner, sheer class.Their skipper was having a torrid time against Ryan, who literally bullied and outplayed him till he went off 2nd half, but also the rest of the team were doing this in every position on the pitch and it was nice to hear them arguing as the whistle went for half time with the score at 2-0 to the Rangers.
Second half saw the lads continue with the same attitude and confidence and were rewarded when Scott slid a lovely through ball to Joe who dummied the keeper and then placed into the corner 3-0.This was followed by Scott who never gives up any cause chasing a ball which was clearly there goalies but I think he must have heard about Scotts hatred for keepers and basically sh*t out leaving our man to slide the ball gently into an open net(or did he nervously smash it just inside the post not sure :-).Hopflower did then have the next 10mins as I added subs gradually and it takes time for players to slot in and from a corner then pulled one back,4-1.Still we pushed on and from a cross from the right saw a Lightning fast Mr Slack launching the wheel which resulted in one conclsion,GOAL,as it bobbled lethargically into the corner,GET IN!!.5-1.Full time then came and hands were shook and an immense pride came over me,that was good I thought and the words if only.Still I think its been a tremendous season and progression has been made in all departments, yes we have had a couple of slips but thats football and as you know I never hold grudges.Thought Griff was tremendous tonight and has obviously got me thinking but then I remember Shirland away lol.
Finally a big thanks to all the lads who have placed the Rangers Blue shirt over their heads this season and making my task that little bit more enjoyable and worthwhile.Best wishes go to Adam and Carl who are stepping away next season for different reasons none which are football related.I know that there will be an influx of new players next season as when a team achieves moderate success players want to be a part of that, but trust me when I say that if the team doesn't benefit then new players will not be signed just because they are mates or local, they have to improve and add quality to our squad.
I hope you have enyoyed this little Match Reports(sometimes like War&Peace)as I think when you look back over the season it helps just jog the memory on some games.

                THANKS AGAIN MEN,
                                               RANGERS TILL I DIE X
